The best of what has been said about this type of people is that they will be tested on the Day of Resurrection. So whoever obeys the command will enter Paradise, and whoever disobeys will enter Hell, because God Almighty says: And We would not punish until We had sent a messenger [Al-Isra: 15].
And the scholar Ibn al-Qayyim - may God have mercy on him - elaborated on this sect at the end of his book (The Path of the Two Hijrahs in the Study of the Tabaqat al-Mulkalifin).
