Matters are of two types: a section in which ignorance is excused, and a section in which ignorance is not excused. If the one who did that was among the Muslims, and committed polytheism with God and worshiped other than God, then he is not excused; Because he is negligent, he did not ask, and he did not look into his religion, so he is not excused in worshiping him other than God, whether dead people, trees, stones, or idols. For his symptoms and his neglect of his religion, as God Almighty said: And those who disbelieve turn away from what they were warned [Al-Ahqaf: 3] And because the Prophet, peace be upon him, when he asked his Lord for forgiveness for his mother because she died in the Jahiliyyah, he was not permitted to seek forgiveness for her; Because she died on the religion of her people who worship idols, and because he, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said to someone who asked him about his father, he said: He is in the fire. Bedouin worship? Or worship Hussein? Or worship Sheikh Abdul Qadir Al-Jilani? Or worship the Messenger Muhammad, peace be upon him? Or worship me? Or worship others? These and their likes are not excused from a fortiori; Because they committed the greatest shirk while they were among the Muslims, and the Qur’an was in their hands. Thus, the Sunnah of the Messenger of God - may God bless him and grant him peace - is present among them, but they turn away from that.
The second category: Those who are excused for ignorance, such as those who grow up in a country far from Islam on the outskirts of the world, or for other reasons, such as the people of the period and the like who did not reach the message. Paradise, and if they disobeyed, they would enter Hell; For His saying, may He be glorified and exalted: And We would not punish until We had sent a messenger [Al-Israa: 15] and for authentic hadiths mentioned in that. The scholar Ibn al-Qayyim - may God have mercy on him - elaborated on this issue at the end of his book: (Tariq al-Hijratain) when he mentioned the layers of the taxpayers, so let him review there for the greatness of its usefulness [1].
