Answer: Shirk in his name is to associate other than God with God in worship, such as invoking idols or others, seeking help from them, making a vow to them, praying for them, fasting for them, or slaughtering for them, such as slaughtering for the Bedouin or for the Eidros, or praying for so-and-so, or asking for extensions from the Messenger, peace be upon him. Or from Abd al-Qadir or from al-Aydros in Yemen or others from the dead and absent, then all of this is called shirk, and the same applies if the stars or jinn call for help, or they ask for aid, or the like. This has become a polytheism with God , God Almighty said: And if they had committed idolatry, what they used to do would be nullified.
It is polytheism to worship someone other than God complete worship, for it is called polytheism and it is called unbelief, so whoever turns away from God completely, and makes his worship to other than God, such as trees, stones, idols, jinn, Or some of the dead of those they call saints, worships them or prays for them or fasts for them and forgets God in total, this is the greatest infidelity and the most severe polytheism. And all its likes are called polytheism, and they are called disbelief in Allah.
Some people may err due to their ignorance, so calling the dead and seeking their help is a means, and thinks that it is wrong, and this is a great. Because this action is one of the greatest polytheism with God, even if some of the ignorant or polytheists call it a means, and it is the religion of the polytheists, which God vilified and reproached them with. Wasilah [Al-Ma’idah: 35] So what is meant by it is to draw close to Him, Glory be to Him, by obeying Him, and this is its meaning according to all the people of knowledge. Prayer is an act of worship to God, as it is a means, and sacrifice to God is a means such as sacrifices and sacrifices, fasting is a means, and alms are a means, and remembrance of God and reading the Qur'an is a means, and this is the meaning of his saying The Almighty: Fear God and seek the means to Him and strive in His cause [Al-Ma'idah: 35] meaning, seek closeness to Him by obeying Him. Charities and more.
Some people are that the means is the attachment to the dead and the distress of the saints, this is a false thinking, and this is the belief of the polytheists who God said in: And they worship from God without what does not harm them and do not benefit them and say: “We will be upon them, and they will be upon them.” Glory be to Him and Exalted be He above what they associate (Yunus: 18) [1].
