When Moses - peace be upon him - was on the way to Madyan, he arrived at a water resource where a large group of shepherds were watering their livestock, and on the other hand he saw two women with their sheep waiting for the shepherds to finish their watering until they watered, so Moses - peace be upon him - inquired about their condition, and they told him about their condition. That they did not want to crowd the men for watering, and they told him that their father is an old man who cannot water from the water resource, so Moses - peace be upon him - watered for them both, then he resorted to the shade of a tree after the hardship of travel, then turned to God - the Most High - in supplication to suffice him for his hunger and thirst, so God made God Almighty has the relief. When the two girls told their father what happened with them, and they told him about Moses, peace be upon him, he sent one of them asking Moses to come to her father to get to know him and thank him for his kindness to them, so Moses went with the girl to her father, and got to know him, then the sheikh made him an offer greater than what Moses waited for him peace; He offered him to marry one of his two daughters in return for him to serve him for eight or ten years in herding sheep.[1]

It was said that the name of the wife of Moses - peace be upon him - is Saffurah, and it was said: Saffuriya, and it was said: Saffurah, and she is one of the two daughters of the righteous man who proposed marriage to Moses, peace be upon him,[2] and scholars differed about her father’s prophecy. One of the prophets of God - peace be upon them - and he is Shuaib, which is the most famous saying among the sayings of scholars, while Ibn Kathir and others said that the righteous man is the cousin of the Prophet of God Shuaib or his nephew, or that he is a righteous man from his people,[3] and Ibn Ashour mentioned in the book Liberation and Enlightenment that Moses - peace be upon him - after being given the choice between the two girls chose the younger; Because she guided him to the path of her father, so he learned from her her modesty and morals, so he favored her over her sister, then he married her.[4]



Morals of Moses' wife, peace be upon him


The wife of Moses - peace be upon him - was mentioned in the Holy Qur’an, where God Almighty said: (So one of them came to him walking shyly. It was narrated on the authority of Omar Ibn Al-Khattab - may God be pleased with him - that she covered her face with the sleeve of her shield or the sleeve of her shirt. her old woman, and Moses, peace be upon him, said to her: (Walk behind me, and show me the way if I erred). In another narration, it was mentioned that the girl, when she came to Moses - peace be upon him - said to her: (Walk behind me and show me the way, and I walk in front of you, for I We do not look at the backs of the women), and one of the morals of the wife of Moses - peace be upon him - is her kindness to her father and seeking to help him and relieve him of responsibilities and burdens, despite the difficulty of herding and watering sheep, but she and her sister did the work on behalf of their parents and did not occupy him with it because of his old age.[1] [6]



Lessons learned from the marriage of Moses The story of Moses' marriage - peace be upon him - from his wife was different from the usual; Because her father was the one who offered Moses - peace be upon him - to marry him to one of his two daughters, and it was a suggestion that a man could propose to his daughter someone in whom he sees morality and religion, and there are other things learned from the story of Moses - peace be upon him - on his way to Madyan or when he met a righteous man and his two daughters. Including: [1] It is permissible to emigrate or leave a country in which a person feels that he is not safe for himself, his religion or his honor, as the migration of Moses - peace be upon him - to Madyan was out of fear for himself from the oppression, tyranny and tyranny of Pharaoh. The character of a Muslim with the initiative to provide aid and assistance to those who need it without questioning and requesting in order to obtain the pleasure of God Almighty. The chastity of Musa - peace be upon him - that young Muslims must adorn themselves with, when Moses - peace be upon him - came to the two girls to know their needs, he inquired about their need only and did not expand on what he had no need for. The Muslim's resort to God - the Most High - alone is to broadcast and ask needs and to stay away from people's questions. Fulfilling covenants and conditions is one of the morals of a Muslim, for Moses - peace be upon him - fulfilled his pledge that was promised to a righteous man, which is to work with sheep. It is desirable for a Muslim to reassure his brother or those who sought refuge in him with a desire and need for protection and aid. When Moses - peace be upon him - came to a righteous man, he immediately reassured him, as God Almighty said in the Noble Qur’an: (Do not be afraid, you will escape from the unjust people).[5]
